RODI Kenya Participates in Agroecology for Climate Resilience Stakeholder Engagement in Nandi County

RODI Kenya, in partnership with BIBA Kenya, Effective IPM Association, and KOAN, participated in an Agroecology for Climate Resilience stakeholders’ engagement meeting held in Nandi County in collaboration with the County Government of Nandi.

The engagement brought together farmers, partners, and county officials with the aim of briefing farmers on agroecology and providing a platform for them to share their views, experiences, and recommendations towards the ongoing development of Nandi County’s Agroecology Policy.

During the discussions, farmers highlighted the importance of agroecology in building sustainable farming systems that restore soil health, conserve biodiversity, and strengthen resilience against climate change. Participants also emphasized the need for policies that recognize farmers’ knowledge and support the adoption of agroecological practices that rely on locally available resources.

RODI Kenya continues to promote agroecology as a pathway to resilient food systems, improved farmer livelihoods, and environmental sustainability. Through farmer trainings, knowledge sharing, and partnerships, RODI Kenya supports communities in adopting sustainable farming practices such as organic fertilizers, bio-pesticides, integrated farming, and soil regeneration techniques.

The engagement reaffirmed the importance of farmer participation in policy development, ensuring that the voices of farmers remain central in shaping agricultural policies that affect their livelihoods.

Through the collective efforts of BIBA Kenya, RODI Kenya, Effective IPM Association, KOAN, and the County Government of Nandi, the county is taking important steps toward an agroecological transformation that empowers farmers, restores ecosystems, and builds climate-resilient agriculture for the future.
