Ian Mutugi is a former member of the Soap Club at Riamute Primary School. During his time in the club, he was introduced to practical skills, including baking and cake making.

Although Ian was unable to continue to high school, the skills he gained through the club gave him a foundation for starting his own business.

Today, Ian makes and sells cakes as a source of income. His business earns him approximately KES 1,700 per day.

Through the income from his business, Ian has been able to purchase a calf and is now working towards buying a motorbike.

“The skills I learned in the club have helped me create a source of income. Baking has become something I can depend on.”

Ian's story shows how practical skills can provide young people with opportunities even when their education journey takes a different direction.
